The YYoga Story
YYoga was founded by Terry McBride and Lara Kozan in 2007 with the vision of offering a guest focused approach while providing a wide variety of yoga lineages in an ‘all are welcome’ environment.
At the center of this environment would be an abundance of classes offered by the industry’s best teachers. These classes would be surrounded by spa-like amenities and services such as wellness, showers, saunas and lounges; all working to create an amazing experience, local community and healthy lifestyle.
In only three years, this vision has turned into seven YYoga centers throughout Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and Whistler! An eighth center is opening in Kitsilano this June.
At YYoga we do all that we can to contribute to healthy environments. From the centers we build to the products we source to our everyday operations, being eco-conscious is at the heart of all we do. The state of our surroundings affects the state of our mind, body, and soul. So taking care of the environment means fulfilling generations of healthy living.
Our Founders
Terry McBride
In 2005, Terry McBride, CEO of Nettwerk Music Group, stepped onto a yoga mat for the first time, and it wasn't before too long that he realized yoga offered him more than just a flexible body and mind. It's Terry's vision for YYoga studios to evolve into social centers, focusing on health and wellness for the body, mind, spirit and the community.
Lara Kozan
Lara has a unique background that balances an inspired yoga practice and a successful business career. While growing up studying dance, gymnastics, and fitness training, she became drawn to yoga. She has studied with leading teachers such as Bikram Choudhry, Baron Baptiste, Moksha, John Friend as well as many others. Also a teacher, Lara draws from her experience on the mat, her revered teachers and also her experience as a life and business coach to inspire others to personal transformation.
