200 HOUR FOUNDATION YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

Deepen your practice and learn to teach with the YYoga Teacher Training Program in Vancouver and Whistler, BC.

The 200 Hour Foundation program is a great first step on your journey towards deepening your practice and understanding of yoga. Bringing together expert teachers, this program will provide you with a solid foundation to teach Hatha yoga with an emphasis on Vinyasa or Flow Yoga. This program is grounded in the Krishnamacharya lineage (Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga) and highlights the key elements of Ashtanga in its emphasis on the mindful use of vinyasa, focus on breath, bandhas and movement even though it differs in its approach to the sequencing of the traditional Ashtanga postures.

YYoga Teacher Training is PCTIA and Yoga Alliance Certified.  As a graduate of YYoga, you will have the opportunity to teach at YYoga centers.

KEY ELEMENTS
This program encourages students to take the seat of a teacher and to step forth with an open heart, clear intention and knowledge grounded in:

  • Exploring the dynamics and sequencing of power, vinyasa and flow yoga
  • Integrating pranayama, meditation, and yin/restorative techniques into your classes
  • Understanding anatomy, modifications, primary contraindications, and the key benefits of asana
  • Be confident in the proper use and technique of mindful, safe adjustments
  • A basic understanding of Sanskrit, Yogic Philosophy including Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita
  • Practical experience teaching and adjusting

PHILOSOPHY, ETHICS & LIFESTYLE – 30 hours

Patanjali's 8 limbs Ashtanga System (integrated into modern times)

Yoga Scriptures: Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita

Ethics for Yoga Teachers

Intro to Ayurveda & Lifestyle

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING – 15 hours 

Includes student teaching as well as observing and assisting in classes taught by others.



Examination and Certification
 - Opportunities to teach upon Certification

Prerequisites: 
Must be practicing yoga for at least 6 months
 & must be physically fit and able to do asana flow (beginners welcome with modified postures offered)

This program is offered in a modular format and in a monthly intensive format.
